Kelly Clarkson Makes Ed Sheeran Reveal His Favorite Coach on ‘The Voice’
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Kelly Clarkson is known for her charm and wit on and off the stage. So when it comes to getting her celebrity colleagues to reveal juicy secrets, she never shies away from asking the tough questions. Which is exactly what happened when she had former The Voice mega mentor Ed Sheeran as a virtual guest on her talk show.
Ed Sheeran Reveals His Favorite Coach
During an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the host put Sheeran on the spot and asked him to name his favorite coach on The Voice. Sheeran, who has mentored on the show in the past, was hesitant at first, but Clarkson didn’t let him off the hook easily.
The cheeky interaction between the two singers is in a short video clip on the talk show’s official Twitter account. While all of the coaches have been supportive of Sheeran, Clarkson is the only one who gave him a special gift. That gift was a jacket, which he still cherishes to this day.
“Well Kelly, only one person. Only one person gave me a gift,” Sheeran said. “It must’ve been you because I still actually have the jacket. I still have the jacket in this house.”
Despite their different backgrounds and styles, it’s clear that Sheeran and Clarkson share a deep respect and admiration for each other’s talents. Clarkson singing a cover of Sheeran’s song “Bad Habits,” on her show’s Kellyoke segment showed how a possible collaboration between the two artists can happen.
Clarkson Calls Blake Shelton’s The Voice Departure “A Gain For Humanity”
The original winner of American Idol recently made a lighthearted joke about her fellow coach Blake Shelton’s upcoming departure from the show. During a recent interview, Clarkson humorously said that Shelton’s departure is “a gain for humanity.”
“He is the ultimate Coach on this show. Everybody knows that,” Clarkson said. “It’s an incredible thing that he’s done for so many artists. It’s a loss for The Voice, but it’s a gain for humanity because we get to see less of him. So there’s that!”
Shelton announced in October 2022 that Season 23 of The Voice will be his last, after being in the show since its inaugural season. Despite the lighthearted nature of Clarkson’s comment, it’s clear that Shelton’s departure will have a significant impact on the show. As one of the show’s most popular coaches, Shelton has helped to guide countless contestants to success and has become a fan favorite in his own right.
