It’s never too early to listen to Christmas music. Kelly Clarkson just released her new holiday anthem that is unlike anything we’ve heard from her in the past. “Christmas Isn’t Canceled (Just You)” is one of the songs off her upcoming Christmas album When Christmas Comes Around… The 15-track album features a duet with The Voice coach Ariana Grande on the song “Santa, Can’t You Hear Me.”

Kelly Clarkson Drops ‘Christmas Isn’t Canceled (Just You)’

“Christmas Isn’t Canceled (Just You)” is the sassiest Christmas song ever. This is the first Christmas song Clarkson has put out that isn’t super lovey-dovey. Past songs like “Wrapped in Red” and “Winter Dreams (Brandon’s Song)” were all about her relationship with Brandon Blackstock. Her divorce from Blackstock has been full of drama and bombshells.

This new song shows that Clarkson has the perfect attitude to help get her through such a difficult time in her life. She’s not going to let the negativity ruin the holidays for her. “I’m not feeling incomplete,” Clarkson sings. She sings about still hanging up lights, going shopping, and blasting Christmas music in her house.

Clarkson made sure to drop her song early since Mariah Carey essentially owns Christmas. “Christmas Isn’t Canceled (Just You)” is a strong contender to compete against Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” this year. Clarkson’s song has a lot of radio potential. Every retail store you walk into during the holidays will probably be blasting it every other hour.

Clarkson Explains the Title of Her Album

“My purpose for choosing this lyric as the title of this project was to bring forth a sense of reality to the fact that we are probably in very different places emotionally ‘When Christmas Comes Around…'” Clarkson wrote on Instagram. “Some of us are consumed with a new love, some of us reminded of loss, some filled with optimism for the coming new year, others elated for some much deserved time away from the chaos our work lives can sometimes bring us.”

Clarkson’s ninth studio album will also feature “Under the Mistletoe” with Brett Eldredge as a bonus track. The duo performed a chemistry-filled rendition of the song during the live shows on The Voice last year. Also on the tracklist is “Glow” featuring five-time Grammy winner Chris Stapleton.

“Wherever you are, and whatever you may be experiencing, I wanted everyone to be able to connect to a message on this album,” Clarkson continued. “Each year you may even have a new favorite depending on where you are in your life, but while change can be unpredictable there is no better time of year, in my opinion, to breathe hope into one’s life and let possibility wander.”

Get your Christmas pajamas and hot cocoa ready because When Christmas Comes Around… will be out on October 15. It is currently available for pre-save.
