Kelly Clarkson Gets Montana Ranch in Divorce, Asks Judge to Restore Her Last Name

Kelly Clarkson has been going through the ringer while facing legal battles with her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. Now, The Voice coach received a victory as her prenup was validated by a judge. Due to this decision, Clarkson will keep the couple’s Montana ranch, where Blackstock currently lives, along with all assets and income earned during the marriage. Clarkson also asked the judge to restore her maiden name.
Kelly Clarkson Wants Her Last Name Back in Divorce
The Voice coach was apparently on-set filming when she received news of her win. Reports state that she was seen screaming and celebrating along with her fellow coaches.
Clarkson and her former husband Blackstock have been more than familiar with the courts as of late. The Grammy winner is now ready to get back a large piece of her independence. Clarkson wants her last name back in the midst of this divorce.
“Petitioner requests restoration of the former name as set forth in the proposed judgment,” states documents reported by The Blast.
Earlier this month, Clarkson also requested that the courts legally declare her single. This is will come into effect one year after she filed for divorce. The talk show host states that she and Blackstock “both deserve the opportunity to build a new life.”
Other sources say that Clarkson’s ex-husband isn’t putting up a fight in terms of the name change. Most of the time, a judge will sign off on this sort of document immediately.
Finances, on the otherhand, have been a bigger issue. Recently, the singer refused to pay for her ex-husband’s $81,000 per month Montana Ranch. With all the other expenses she is covering, the artist does not watch to cover the costs of the ranch as well. Clarkson was ordered to pay her ex-husband $150,000 per month in spousal support plus an additional $45,000 for child support. The Voice coach is also responsible for paying 70 percent of her children’s school fees.
The Singer Celebrated her Prenup on Set of The Voice
While Clarkson has hit some financial roadblocks in the midst of her divorce, she sure found something to celebrate. While on set of The Voice Wednesday evening, the coach discovered that her prenup had been validated by the judge in her case. Sources obtained by TMZ states the prenup segregates all assets and income derives during her marriage to Blackstock.
It has been reported that Clarkson’s celebration while filming got personal. New addition to the team, Ariana Grande was seen taking part in the celebration. It was also revealed that Blake Shelton, who was formerly managed by Blackstock had ended the business relationship between them.
Amid Clarkson’s up and downs regarding her divorce, she does have much to look forward too. It was confirmed by NBC that the host’s talk show will fill the time slot of Ellen. The long running series is set to come to an end after season 19, leaving Clarkson to fill the top spot.
