Jackson Olsen announced as next 'Dancing With The Stars' cast member

Dancing with the Stars has officially announced another cast member for Season 35 of the show, premiering later this year. Savannah Bananas baseball player Jackson Olson will be competing in the ballroom for the Mirrorball trophy.

DWTS Casts Savannah Bananas Player Jackson Olson

Jackson Olson is a second baseman for the Savannah Bananas, a barnstorming exhibition baseball team. DWTS announced on Instagram Tuesday that Olson will be part of the celebrity cast for Season 35 of the show, premiering this fall.

Judge Derek Hough posted his own Instagram video showing that he had hinted about Olson’s casting on the show weeks ago when he appeared with Olson on the field at a Savannah Bananas game. Hough wrote, “Can’t wait to see him trade home runs for heel leads and curveballs for cha-cha-cha.”

Several DWTS pros also reacted to the news of Olson’s casting on Instagram. Rylee Arnold wrote in the comments of the official announcement, “WOOOOOOOO.” Alan Bersten wrote, “Let’s go!!!!!” Sasha Farber and Pasha Pashkov both posted several clapping emojis, while Emma Slater commented, “LETS GOOO!! Big fan over here.”

Who Else Has Been Cast in Season 35?

Jackson Olson is the third celebrity to officially be cast in Season 35 of Dancing with the Stars. Last month, it was announced that Love Island UK star Maura Higgins and Summer House star Ciara Miller will be competing in the ballroom.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the full list of celebrities and pro dancers competing on Season 35 of the show will be announced September 2 on Good Morning America. That will include a new pro, who will be chosen on the spin-off series DWTS: The Next Pro.

The Next Pro, hosted by Season 34 winner Robert Irwin, will premiere on ABC July 13. A premiere date has yet to be announced for Season 35, although the show typically premieres in mid-to-late September.
