Katy Perry Will Not Return to American Idol, Is Not Watching Current Season
Former American Idol judge Katy Perry is officially living her best life. The former judge has released her newest album “143” and has an upcoming tour, since announcing her departure from the show.
Reportedly, due to the months’ long filming schedule of the reality show, Perry was “unable to pursue her own music projects to their full capacity.” The months long filming schedule is a reason why Perry is “not interested” in returning to the judging panel.
“Katy doesn’t even watch show so she hasn’t seen Carrie,” an insider told The U.S. Sun. “She feels more like herself now than she has in years being a pop star. She is a pop star to the core and her team all felt like the show was holding her back, she felt that too.”
The insider then went on to detail how Disney’s contract was “suffocating” for the singer. Sources also admit that Perry has “no opinion” on how Carrie Underwood is doing, since she hasn’t tuned in.
“Katy wishes the show and everyone there well, she still views it as a positive overall,” the source said. “She just graduated from that chapter and has no interest in going back.”
Perry Announced Her Departure From The Show in 2024
On February 12, 2024, Perry announced her departure from American Idol. At the time of her departure, Perry admitted that she was exiting the show to focus on new music. For those who may not know, Perry had been a consistent judge on the panel since 2018.
“I love [American] Idol so much. It’s connected me with the heart of America, but I need to feel that pulse of my own beat,” Perry said on Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2024. “I love the show so much but I want to go and see the world and maybe bring new music.”
Since leaving the show, Perry has released her newest album, 143 and is set to embark on the Lifetimes World Tour. The tour is set to begin on April 23, 2025 in Mexico City. The tour will then end on December 7, 2025 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The Tour is 84 shows long.
We do have Carrie Underwood who replaced Katy Perry as a new judge. it was so upsetting why Katy will not be a judge since last season.
