'American Idol' 2026 Hollywood Week

This week, American Idol‘s first Hollywood Week episode of Season 24 reportedly topped The Voice Season 29 premiere in the ratings. This year, the show moved its notorious post-audition phase to Nashville for the first time.

American Idol Hollywood Week Tops The Voice Premiere

According to Deadline, ABC’s American Idol had its best night in the ratings since the Season 24 premiere with this week’s first Hollywood Week episode, as the singers who made it through the auditions with a Golden Ticket performed for their chance to make it into the Top 30.

The show’s ratings were reportedly up more than a quarter from last year’s equivalent Hollywood Week episode, and it also topped The Voice, which premiered Season 29 on NBC the same night. Idol earned 5.52 million total viewers and a 0.45 rating among Adults 18-49.

The Voice premiere, in comparison, drew 3.84 million viewers. It aired an hour later than American Idol, starting at 9 p.m. rather than 8 p.m. In a statement, ABC boasted that Idol “scored its largest margin of victory ever in total viewers over The Voice during its nine-season run on ABC.”

Hollywood Week Will Continue on Monday

This season on American Idol, Hollywood Week was moved from Los Angeles to Nashville, as the 127 singers who earned a Golden Ticket during the audition phase returned to the stage for solo performances. The judges started narrowing down the competition to the Top 30 contestants.

The episode ended on a cliffhanger, as the fates of several singers were left up in the air. We’ll find out if they made it through when Hollywood Week continues on Monday night. In a preview for the episode, the show also teased that there might be “sing-offs” between the contestants to determine who should move on.
