JoJo Siwa is currently competing on Celebrity Big Brother in the UK, and she’s struck up a bond with housemate Chris Hughes, a former Love Island contestant. Recently, Siwa shut Hughes down when he compared her to his girlfriend.
JoJo Siwa Shuts Down Chris Hughes’ ‘Girlfriend’ Comment on Celebrity Big Brother
During this week’s new Celebrity Big Brother episode, Hughes cashed in on a prize that allowed him to enjoy Chinese takeout with one of his housemates. Despite the fact that he and Siwa have become close, he chose to share the meal with actor Jack P. Shepherd.
“That was like having a spare ticket to a football match right, and then going oh, your girlfriend going ‘oh I wanna come’ but knowing deep down if you take your girlfriend, your mates are going to batter you,” Hughes explained of his decision.
This prompted Siwa to remind Hughes, “I’m not your girlfriend.” The 21-year-old, who came out as part of the LBGTQ community in 2021, is currently in a relationship with Australian presenter and actor Kath Ebbs. Siwa told Hughes, “No hard feelings, but I’m going to remember it.”
The Pair’s Friendship Has Gotten People Talking
Earlier in the season, Hughes came to Siwa’s defense after she faced homophobic harassment from housemate Mickey Rourke, who has since left the show. The pair has continued to spend time together, as Siwa opened up to Hughes about her gender identity.
The two have also been physically affectionate, which has gotten fans talking on social media. Some viewers are wondering if something romantic is going on between Siwa and Hughes. Hughes’ brother Ben recently addressed the situation on Lorraine.
“I actually think they’ve formed a great friendship due to the fact that Chris stood up for JoJo,” he said. “I think JoJo is in a solid relationship. Chris will know that. I just think that they’ve got each other’s backs.”
