On Monday, Jennifer Lopez released a new Spanish-language single called “Cambia el Paso” with Rauw Alejandro. The singer has been hyping the song on social media, and we’re ready to dance to it all summer.

The former World of Dance judge has also spoken about the meaning behind the song, and it certainly sounds like it may have been inspired by her recent split with former baseball player Alex Rodriguez, to whom she was engaged for two years.

Jennifer Lopez Releases New Song ‘Cambia el Paso’

In English, “Cambia el Paso” translates to “Change the Step.” The new single is mostly in Spanish, with a few English lyrics here and there. “What you wanna do is just dance, dance, dance, dance,” Lopez tells listeners during the song’s chorus, and we’re definitely ready to do just that.

“The song is about change and not being afraid to take the step,” Lopez recently told SiriusXM’s Crisco Kidd. “Like, just take the step, advance, do what you need to do. If something’s not feeling right, whatever it is in your life, like, just make that move and dance.”

Of course, this has led to speculation that the song is related to her split from Alex Rodriguez. The pair broke up in March of this year after a two-year engagement. In a statement, the pair said they’re “better as friends,” adding that they will continue to support each other’s projects.

Lopez told Kidd of the new song’s message, “You gotta live. You gotta be yourself. You got to be happy.” For her, that apparently means getting back together with her ex-fiancé Ben Affleck.

Lopez Teases Music Video for New Song

Lopez has also teased a music video for “Cambia el Paso” on social media. In a clip, the singer walks down the street at night in a denim jacket and a sparkly bra. In another shot, she appears to be on the beach. Rauw Alejandro is also in the video, dancing to the song.

So far, only the song’s audio has been released, but we’re excited to see the music video when it eventually premieres. What do you think of Lopez’s new track? Is it the song of the summer for you? Let us know in the comments.
