Future coach of The Voice Ariana Grande is making history in the charts with her new music. The 27-year-old singer currently has three songs in the Top 10 of two music charts, and she’s the first artist to do it.
Grande is the newest coach to join The Voice, replacing current coach Nick Jonas in the spinning red chair. She’s certainly proven herself worthy of the gig.
Ariana Grande Makes Chart History with Three Songs
According to a press release, Grande is the first artist in history to have three songs simultaneously in the Top 10 of the Billboard Pop Airplay Chart. She’s also the first artist to have three songs simultaneously in the Top 10 of the Mediabase Top 40.
The songs that hold the honor are “positions,” “34+35,” and “pov.” They all appear on her album Positions, which was released last year. Her new song with The Weeknd, “Save Your Tears,” also hit the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for the second week in a row.
In addition to her impressive chart performance, the hitmaker has been nominated for 12 Grammys over the years, and she’s won two — Pop Vocal Album for Sweetener in 2019, and Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Rain on Me” with Lady Gaga in 2021.
She’s Officially Joining ‘The Voice’ Next Season
In March, Grande was announced as a new coach for Season 21 of The Voice. She wrote on Instagram that she was “beyond thrilled, honored, excited” about joining the coaching panel. She’ll be accompanied by current coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Blake Shelton.
“I’m excited about it,” Shelton has said. “I’m a fan of hers, I’m not going to lie. We’re still going to beat the crap out of her, you know, on the show. It’s our job — they pay us to win … They don’t pay me to lose.”
There are already reports that Grande could be the highest-paid coach in the show’s history. She certainly has a big fan base who are likely to tune in just to see her. We’ll have to wait and see if this will have any bearing on the artists who make it to the end of the season.
