Fox Still Up in the Air About Season 2 of ‘The Masked Dancer’

The future of The Masked Dancer is still unclear. Many shows have been added to Fox’s summer and fall lineup. The spinoff show of The Masked Singer received mixed reviews during its inaugural season and a Season 2 has yet to be confirmed.
The Masked Singer is one of the unscripted Fox shows that will be returning this fall for a Season 6. Other shows that have been renewed include I Can See Your Voice, hosted by Ken Jeong, a veteran of the ‘Masked’ universe. Fans of the franchise now await the decision about whether or not Fox will give Season 2 of The Masked Dancer the green light.
Is There Going to be a Season 2 of ‘The Masked Dancer’?
The Masked Dancer brought in only about half of the average amount of viewers that The Masked Singer typically gets. The concept of the show was a bit silly at times. There were multiple cases of contestants spoiling their identity outside of the show. The Masked Dancer combined the wild guesses and quirky judges moments that we usually see on The Masked Singer. Unfortunately, the show lost its appeal as the season went on.
“We’re really happy with The Masked Dancer, we thought it was a great show,” the network’s alternative chief Rob Wade said. “We are just figuring out where it fits into our Masked strategy. We’re looking to see where and when that would play best. We filmed it right in the middle of the pandemic and we took a lot of lessons from it. We’ve got a lot of really nice ideas should there be a season two and we’re figuring out where and when that might be.”
Fox might give Season 2 of The Masked Dancer the go-ahead to compete with ABC’s long-running Dancing with the Stars. CBS also ordered a new dancing show called Come Dance With Me. Jenna Dewan will be joining the judging panel with Philip Lawrence set to host.
Other shows that have not yet been renewed include Wayne Brady’s Game of Talents and Name That Tune, which has a band led by American Idol’s Randy Jackson.
