Former America’s Got Talentcontestant Deshundre Vinson has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of his 4-year-old nephew. Vinson competed last season as part of the music trio CitiLimitz.
Former AGT Contestant Charged with Murder
According to TMZ, former AGT contestant Deshundre Vinson was arrested last week in Tennessee and is being charged with first-degree murder in connection with the drowning death of his 4-year-old nephew. Vinson is also facing three counts of aggravated child abuse. His bond is set at $750,000.
The incident in question reportedly occurred in August at an apartment complex pool in Chattanooga. Police were apparently responding to a separate call when they heard screaming from the pool and found people performing CPR on a child.
After being taken to the hospital, the boy was kept in the pediatric intensive care unit for five days before he passed away. Surveillance footage reportedly shows the child walking into a deeper section of the pool while holding onto the edge. He then slipped and went underwater for about nine minutes before someone pulled him out.
TMZ reports that, according to investigators, Vinson had been babysitting the child and his 6-year-old brother, as well as other children. He allegedly allowed the brothers to walk to the pool unsupervised. Messages to the boys’ mother reportedly show that Vinson acknowledged the lack of supervision.
CitiLimitz, a vocal trio from Chattanooga, Tennessee, competed on Season 20 of AGT last year. The group was comprised of twin brothers Marion and A.T., as well as their cousin Deshundre “Dre” Vinson, who was raised with them.
In their audition, the group performed K-Ci and Jojo’s “All My Life,” earning four “yes” votes from the judges to move on. In the Quarterfinals, they returned to the stage to perform “Cry Me a River” by Justin Timberlake. The group was not voted through to the next round.
