Jessie J Comforts an Emotional Joelle

21-year-old Joelle Moses is not new to the music industry. She announces before her audition that she’s worked with many artists such as Rihanna and Toni Braxton doing background vocals for them. She tells the camera backstage that she has been trying to get into the industry for a while but it’s been a tough road.

“It’s a very tough industry and it’s really hard to get noticed and be heard,” she said.

The young singer automatically intrigues The Voice UK judges when she begins singing her own version of “Rolling in The Deep” by Adele. Her talent made the judges fall in love with her especially Will.i.am and Danny O’Donoghue who both turn their chairs for her almost at the same time. Jessie J and Sir Tom Jones later follow when Joelle begins to hit some really amazing high notes.

After getting all four singers to turn their chairs, Joelle gets emotional and cries tears of joy. Jessie J decides to go on the stage and comfort her.

“You did amazing!” she tells Joelle. Jessie also really wanted Joelle on her team and reminded her that she is the only singer on the panel and the only woman as a way to convince her.

Danny decides to go a different route and flirts with Joelle to get her on his team, sharing that he feels there could be good chemistry between them. She flirts back and says “I wouldn’t mind chemistry between you and me Danny”. Despite the judges all being good choices to work with her, in the end, she goes with Will.i.am as her coach leaving the other judges heartbroken.

Joelle Moses won the hearts of the judges and the audience with her audition and continued that throughout the show. During the battle rounds, she performed “I’m Every Woman” with Jenny Jones but wins against her. She then goes on to sing famous hits that show off her vocals. Such as “I’m Going Down” by Mary J Blige and “Stronger” by Kelly Clarkson. Unfortunately, Joelle gets eliminated in the Live Finals.

Following being eliminated Joelle continued to put music up on Youtube, but her singing career didn’t really take off afterward as she hoped.

The singer did open up about how music saved her life after being sexually assaulted at a young age. When she was 13-years-old a group of boys at her school attacked her. When she filed a police report against them and they were expelled her classmates turned on her. Joelle encountered so much bullying she eventually had to transfer schools.

“Music is everything to me. I sing when I am happy, I sing when I am sad. I feel it’s helped me overcome so much. I hope somebody can get strength from this situation because it really broke me as a person. I am a stronger person today. I had to find it in my heart to forgive them and move on.” She Says.
