American Idol Season 22 contestant Emmy Russell recently gave birth to her first child, a daughter. Unfortunately, Russell faced some complications from the birth and had to remain at the hospital for a blood transfusion.

Russell, who is the granddaughter of country icon Loretta Lynn, competed in Season 22 of American Idol last year. In December, Russell announced that she and her husband, fellow musician Tyler Ward, were expecting their first child together.
The 26-year-old singer apparently gave birth to a baby girl early Friday morning, after her water broke on Wednesday evening. A couple of days later, Ward posted an update video on Russellโs Instagram account, sharing that she was still in the hospital after facing complications from the birth.
Ward showed a clip of Russell from Sunday evening in which the new mom could be seen lying in her hospital bed holding their baby daughter. She shared that she had been โfeeling woozyโ and โthought I was gonna pass outโ when she got up.
โSo they told me that I lost a liter of blood, and Iโm gonna have to get a blood transfusion,โ Russell explained. โSo weโre gonna test again and see if I have to get more blood. Itโs gonna be worth it.โ

The Couple Asked for Prayers
โEmmy & baby update. Prayers welcomed,โ read the caption of the coupleโs Instagram video. Friends and fans offered their love in the postโs comments. According to Entertainment Now, several Idol alums also showed their support.
The post was apparently liked by Season 22 winner Abi Carter and finalist Tristan Harper, as well as Season 21 finalist Wรฉ Ani. Season 21 contestant Matt Wilson wrote that he was โprayingโ for the couple.
According to Country Now, Russell posted a photo of Ward holding their daughter on Instagram stories, writing that she was โso in love with these two.โ She added that she was โhealing,โ and there were โlots of tears and frustration,โ as well as โbody pain.โ
Russell wrote that Ward was โpulling through on my behalf.โ The couple has yet to publicly announce their daughterโs name.
