Dancing With the Stars premiered their first ever Super Bowl night on Tuesday, October 13. Fans of America’s Got Talent were treated to a familiar face during the dance competition’s brand new theme night.
The Pack Drumline Performed on DWTS During Super Bowl Night
Dancing With the Stars‘ Super Bowl night was overall a hit, featuring dances to multiple Super Bowl halftime songs, guest judge Joe Buck, and even a surprise guest performer. The guest performer was none other than The Pack Drumline, who rose to fame on America’s Got Talent Season 17.
The Pack Drumline was founded by Perry Donta’e, who developed an after-school program for at-risk youth called Street Beat. The group originally featured children who weren’t into sports, and were often introverted or outcasts. In 2015, the creator of the group turned Street Beat into a touring group called The Pack. They went on to perform around Chicago, before becoming the official drumline for WNBA team the Chicago Sky.
This drumline is different from others we’ve seen on a competition stage before, since they combine drumming and dance. Aside from being a drumline, they’ve performed at dance competitions such as Red Bull Dance Your Style Chicago and World of Dance Chicago.
In case you missed the episode, The Pack Drumline was featured in the opening number for Super Bowl night, as well as in the background of Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson’s samba.
How Far Did They Make it on AGT?
The Pack Drumline auditioned for America’s Got Talent in 2022. They performed a percussive version of Kendrick Lamar’s “DNA,” earning four yeses from the judges. They continued in the competition to the Semifinals, where they performed a percussion routine to “Astronaut in the Ocean” by Masked Wolf. They were unfortunately eliminated instead of Chapel Hart and did not continue in the competition.
After their time on America’s Got Talent concluded, they performed at the Luxor Theater at the Luxor Hotel and Casino. They joined the cast around the time of their elimination, and remained before production closed on May 11, 2024.
In 2024, The Pack Drumline returned to the America’s Got Talent stage for spin off series America’s Got Talent Fantasy League. Their preliminary performance was a high-energy percussion routine to “We Will Rock You” by Queen and “Humble” by Kendrick Lamar.
They continued into the Semifinals and performed again to “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor and “Panda” by Desiigner. They entered the Top 3 of the night then returned for the Final and Finale. In the Final they performed “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light ‘Em Up)” by Fall Out Boy. Then, in the finale, they performed with V.Unbeatable and Sheila E. They ultimately finished this competition out in second place behind the Ramadhani Brothers.
