After the anchor’s comments broke the internet this week, we now find out that Markle too was made aware of Piers’ comments, filing a complaint with ITV.
It’s understood that Markle’s complaint was less about what Morgan was saying about her, but more about his denial of her mental health struggles and the effect this would have on others.
In fact, Piers himself had to clarify his thoughts on mental health on the show this week, clarifying that conversations surrounding suicide should be taken seriously.
Piers Speaks Out In First Public Appearance
This morning Piers Morgan was keen to speak to journalists as he left his home in London this morning, reiterating his past comments on Markle.
The TV news anchor has centered his new position largely around freedom of speech, posting a Churchill quote today in his defense. “On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview. I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t. If you did, OK. Freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on. Thanks for all the love, and hate. I’m off to spend more time with my opinions,” he wrote as a caption.
Piers, this week, has also let the world know he won’t leave Good Morning Britain quietly. The TV host made an appearance on Fox and Friends labeling the Oprah interview as ‘delusional clap-trap’. He also spent many minutes on the school run telling journalists he will ‘re-emerge’ early today.
