Derek Hough Signs Deal with Walt Disney Television Alternative
According to Deadline, Walt Disney Television Alternative is a new unscripted production unit that is developing new ideas for unscripted series for Disney’s networks and platforms. Hough is taking on this new role in addition to judging on DWTS this season.
Hough told Deadline that it’s “an honor and a privilege” to be part of DWTS, calling it “the show that keeps on giving.” He added, “There’s a lot of uncertainty with this show from season to season. Another word for uncertainty is adventure and I’m always ready for adventure.”
The star also shared the news on his Instagram page earlier this week, writing, “We already have exciting original new projects on the horizon and of course returning to the iconic Dancing With The Stars this Fall. Let the joy of pure entertainment begin.”

Hough Is Keeping Busy with a Las Vegas Show
In the midst of this new deal, and with DWTS Season 31 on the horizon, Hough is keeping busy by performing his Las Vegas residency, called No Limit, at the Venetian. The dancer announced an extension of the residency in February of this year.
Fans can buy tickets for dates through September 10. The show features other dancers in addition to Hough, including his fiancée Hayley Erbert. The pair got engaged earlier this year after seven years of dating.
It was recently announced that all four judges, including Hough, will return to the ballroom for the next season of DWTS, which will premiere on Disney+ later this year. A date has yet to be officially announced, but it’s expected to be in September.
