Derek Hough, Hayley Erbert to Star in ‘School House Rock’ Special

Derek Hough and his fiancée Hayley Erbert are set to star in an upcoming singalong special from ABC honoring School House Rock. Hough’s sister Julianne will also appear in the show, which will be hosted by American Idol‘s Ryan Seacrest.

According to Heavy, ABC announced the Schoolhouse Rock! 50th Anniversary Singalong at the Television Critics Association winter press tour this week. The special will be hosted by Ryan Seacrest and feature a number of famous faces.
In addition to Derek Hough, Hayley Erbert, and Julianne Hough, the special will also include appearances from the Black Eyed Peas, the Muppets, NE-YO, and Raven Symoné. The Boys & Girls Club of Atlanta and stars from Disney on Broadway will also appear, among others.
ABC has also released a list of performances, which include Hough and Erbert with the song “Figure 8.” Other featured songs include “I’m Just a Bill,” “Unpack Your Adjectives,” “Interjections,” and “Conjunction Junction.”
The special will premiere on Wednesday, February 1, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.

The Couple Has Appeared in Past Singalongs
Hough and Erbert have appeared together in several past singalong specials, performing to “Be Our Guest” from Beauty & the Beast, “Step in Time” from Mary Poppins, and “Jingle Bells” and “Hey Santa” for Christmas.
The couple also appeared in The Queen Family Singalong, dancing to “Another One Bites the Dust” performed by Alexander Jean. They also performed in the Oscars-themed special Step Into… The Movies with Derek and Julianne Hough. They danced a tribute to Moulin Rouge! sung by Amber Riley.
The couple got engaged last year. Recently, they shared that they were in a scary car accident that caused Erbert to get stitches in her face. As she wrote on Instagram, “I’m manifesting that 2023 is a year of health and strength. No more injuries.”
