‘Dancing With The Stars’ Semifinals: SO MANY Perfect Scores!

Dancing with the Stars Season 29 continued on Monday night with the semifinals. This week, the couples each danced twice. That included a redemption dance, in which they tried to improve on a previous performance.


The week started with the stars surprising their fans with phone calls. By the end of the night, every single couple had at least one perfect score. That just made it even harder to decide which of them should make it to next week’s finale.

Viewers voted during the show, and at the end of the night, two couples were eliminated. Check out the week’s performances in the videos below, and read on to find out who went home.


‘Dancing With The Stars’: Watch This Week’s Performances

Skai Jackson & Alan Bersten

Judge Bruno Tonioli helped this couple with their redemption dance, which was the cha-cha. They danced to “Move Your Feet” by Junior Senior. Bruno raved about Skai’s improvement, and Carrie Ann called it “on point.” Derek said it was “phenomenal.”

For their second dance, they performed the Viennese waltz to “Lonely” by Noah Cyrus. Carrie Ann called Skai “an exceptional young woman,” saying she “expressed your vulnerability.” Derek complimented her frame and her emotion.

Justina Machado & Sasha Farber

Judge Derek Hough gave this couple some tips on the tango for their redemption dance. They performed to “El Tango De Roxanne” from Moulin Rouge. Derek praised her frame, and said there were “no hops” this time. Carrie Ann said Justina had an “oozing sensuality.”

For their second dance, they performed a contemporary routine to “Holding Out for a Hero.” Derek said he loved watching Justina dance, calling it “effortless.” Carrie Ann said that magic happened during the performance.

Johnny Weir & Britt Stewart

Judge Carrie Ann Inaba helped this couple with their redemption dance to the salsa. They performed to “X” by the Jonas Brothers. Carrie Ann said Johnny was “in control,” although he had one misstep. Derek pointed out what a tough routine it was, saying, “I loved it.”

For their second dance, they performed a jazz routine to “I Lived” by OneRepublic. Carrie Ann said it had a “feeling of hope.” Derek called it a “beautiful routine,” saying he felt a “genuine connection” between Johnny and Britt. He added that he wanted to give it an 11.

Nelly & Daniella Karagach

Bruno helped this couple with their redemption dance, the paso doble. They performed to “Run Boy Run” by Woodkid. Bruno praised Nelly’s “restrained power,” saying he put work into it. Carrie Ann said there was a “regalness” to the dance. Derek said he wanted “more attack” in some moments.

For their second dance, they performed the jive. The judges gave them a standing ovation for the performance. “You nailed it!” Bruno said, calling it “almost miraculous.” Carrie Ann called it a “breakthrough.”

Nev Schulman & Jenna Johnson

Derek helped this couple with their redemption dance, the foxtrot. They danced to “Sign of the Times” by Harry Styles. Derek called it “classic,” praising Nev’s “control” during the routine. Bruno said he had an “instinct” for the music, adding that they were “in sync.”

For their second dance, the couple performed a contemporary routine set to “If the World Was Ending” by Julia Michaels and JP Saxe. Derek said it was “wonderful to witness.” Bruno said they were “talking with your body.”

Kaitlyn Bristowe & Artem Chigvintsev

Carrie Ann helped this couple with their redemption dance, the paso doble. She called it a “fantastic and fast and furious” performance. Bruno said it was “100 percent authentic,” and waxed poetic about the characterization.

For their second dance, they performed a contemporary routine to “Cowboy Take Me Away” by the Chicks. Carrie Ann said she knew Kaitlyn would be “incredible” at contemporary. Bruno called it a “fantastic dance.”

‘Dancing With The Stars’ Results: Which Star Went Home This Week?

Voting was open during the show. At the end of the night, the bottom three were Johnny Weir, Skai Jackson, and Justina Machado. The couple at the very bottom, who was immediately eliminated, was Johnny and Britt.

The judges were then tasked with saving one of the remaining couples. They voted to save Justina, meaning Skai and Allen were eliminated from the competition.
