A member of Simon Cowell’s boy band December 10 has stepped away in response to a recent controversy. Danny Bretherton, who was accused of misogyny and bullying, has chosen to take “time out” from the band.
December 10 Member Steps Away from Band
On Sunday, December 10 shared that Danny, 17, was stepping away from the band, writing in a statement on Instagram stories, “Danny’s taking some time out at the moment and we’re all respecting that.”
According to The Sun, the statement went on to emphasize “the importance of looking after your mental health and getting support when you need it,” adding of Danny, “He’s our friend and we care about him, so we’re supporting him and giving him the space and privacy he needs.”
Danny has recently been accused of misogynistic behavior, as several girls have apparently posted about him on TikTok, accusing him of “love bombing” them, being unfaithful, and disrespecting them. Others accused Danny of bullying them in school.
A petition was reportedly started on June 15 asking for Danny to be removed from December 10. As Danny steps away, his bandmates are preparing to kick off their European tour on Friday with a show in Amsterdam. It’s not clear if or when Danny will join them.

According to The Sun, Danny issued an apology on social media in response to the recent controversy, writing, “A number of things have been said in the last few days on social media about me, and it’s important I address it.”
As Danny wrote of his actions, “I understand why this has caused upset and hurt, and for that, I am truly sorry. I didn’t think enough about how my behavior might affect other people.” He added that he is aware he “let people down.”
“All I can do now is learn from my mistakes and do better. I am taking some time out to work on myself and get the professional help and support,” Danny continued. “Thank you to everyone who has supported me, and to those who have taken the time to read this.”
