BIO: RuPaul Charles is the creator of RuPaul’s Drag Race, this series has since expanded with several international spin offs. He began this series in 2008 after becoming the world’s biggest drag star in the 90s with the release of his single “Supermodel (You Better Work)” and contract with MAC cosmetics.
RuPaul studied performing arts in Atlanta, Georgia before beginning his career on screen. In 1982, he debuted on an Atlanta public access variety show called The American Music Show. RuPaul gained national exposure in 1989 from dancing as an extra in “Love Shack” by The B-52’s. He began in the 1990s Georgia club scene when he participated in gender bender-style performances. Eventually, he moved to New York City and joined the club scene there as well. RuPaul married Georges LeBar in 2017 after dating for over 20 years.
