RuPaul Announces New Album Release on January 5

The mother of drag is back once again. Mama Ru is sashaying back into the world of music with her newest album “Essential Vol. 3.” At this time, there’s not a ton of details related to the album, other than the release date.

On January 4, RuPaul shared a video lip syncing to a TikTok famous Kim Kardashian sound. Within the video, the RuPaul’s Drag Race host lip syncs: “cause it’s iconic, and I love to do iconic shit.” The text, “When they ask why I’m dropping an album and a new season of drag race on the same day” is written on top of the video.

RuPaul’s Instagram comment section is absolutely blowing up with excited comments. For those who may not know, RuPaul released three albums in 2023, Black Butta, Essential Christmas, and Ho Ho Ho (Deluxe Edition). The first of the three, Black Butta, was also released on the date of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

“Oh she’s double thrusting?! Werk!” another fan wrote.

“WE ARE GONNA BE STREAMING,” another fan wrote.

RuPaul is definitely beginning the year off on the right foot with another album once again. Fans are certain that Essential Vol 3 will be as much of a slay as Black Butta.

The Show Released a Sneak Peek

With the highly anticipated Season 16 of RuPaul’s Drag Race premiere on the horizon, the show recently shared a sneak peek into the new season. If you didn’t know, this season features two groups of queens. The first group features Amanda Tori Meating, Dawn, Mirage, Morphine Love Dion, Q, Sapphira Cristál, and Xunami Muse. The second group includes Geneva Karr, Hershii LiqCour-Jeté, Megami, Mhi’ya Iman Le’Paige, Nymphia Wind, Plane Jane, and Plasma.

This season is set to be bigger than the last with new twists and a major set of celebrity guest judges. It’s been teased that this season will feature some “good old Drag Race classics.” Although this hasn’t been elaborated upon, many fans think this will call for the reintroduction of fan-favorite challenges and formatting that have been absent in recent seasons.

One new detailed twist is the “rating a queen” segment. This segment will feature queens ranking each others’ performances to determine the tom and bottom queens of the week. Another major new twist involves an immunity power that will save one queen from elimination. There has yet to be more information on this immunity at this time, but fans can’t wait to see how it works.

In addition to RuPaul and regular panelists Michelle Visage, Carson Kressley, Ross Matthews, and Ts Madison, season 16 boasts a truly dazzling lineup of guest judges. The guest lineup includes Oscar-winner Charlize Theron, Academy Award honoree Marlee Matlin, Kyra Sedgwick, Mayan Lopez, and horror-icon Sarah Michelle Gellar. Kelsea Ballerini, Adam Shankman, Isaac Mizrahi, Law Roach, Ronan Farrow, Kaia Gerber and Becky G.

Make sure to tune into the show’s January 5 premiere on MTV, so you don’t miss any of the competition!
