BIO: After growing up in Alaska and performing as a father-daughter duo, Jewel was referred to Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen, Michigan at only 15 years old. She was granted admission and received a partial scholarship to study operatic voice. At this academy, Jewel received classical training and learned to play guitar. The young singer left her father and brother in Alaska to attend this Academy. She began writing her own music at the age of 16 and would perform in coffeehouses while in school.
Jewel’s debut album, Pieces of You, released in 1995 when she was 21 years old. This album sat on the Billboard 200 chart for two years.
Jewel has released 13 studio albums in total. Jewel returned to Alaska in 2016 for the reality show, Alaska: The Last Frontier. This series reunited her with her father and brother. In 2021, she gained national recognition as the season six winner of The Masked Singer. In the following year she represented the state of Alaska on the NBC series American Song Contest.
