Christina Aguilera will be the first ever ‘Music Icon’ People’s Choice Award recipient according to NBC. This Grammy Award winner will be the first to receive this award. The ‘Music Icon’ People’s Choice Award celebrates this singer’s lengthy career, contributions to the music industry, and overall solidifies the fact that she is an icon.

Christina Aguilera is People’s Choice Awards First ‘Music Icon’

Aguilera is known for her numerous hits in the late 1990s and early 2000s. She has had multiple hit songs such as “Genie in a Bottle,” “Lady Marmalade,” and so many more. I can promise you’ve heard at least one song by her. Aguilera has sold more than 43 million records worldwide and is the fourth female artist to ever top the Billboard charts for three consecutive decades.

On top of that, she has earned five Grammy Awards, a Latin Grammy Award, a People’s Choice Award, Glamour’s Woman of the Year, and a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. Her career is lengthy, so those are only a snippet of the success she’s had. Aguilera has shown that success in the music industry is truly limitless.

“There is a reason Christina Aguilera is referred to as ‘the voice of our generation.’ She not only has an extraordinary voice, but as a creator, produces music that evokes true emotion and resonates across so many different demographics,” said Jen Neal, Executive Vice President, Entertainment Live Events, Specials & E! News, NBCUniversal Entertainment Television and Streaming in a press release. “Christina is an idol and we cannot wait to celebrate her successes and present her with the inaugural ‘Music Icon’ award.”

Her Return to the People’s Choice Award Stage

Aguilera will accept the award at the upcoming People’s Choice Award Ceremony on Dec. 7. This ceremony will air simultaneously on both E! and NBC at 9 p.m. ET. On top of accepting the award, she will also perform a never-before-seen medley of her biggest songs. The medley will begin with her older music and end with songs from her newest Spanish-language album.

The singer has shared her excitement for this award on her Instagram stories. Yesterday, she shared a promotional photo on her story and wrote that she’s so excited to return to the People’s Choice Awards stage, as well as celebrate her newest achievement. She has not performed at the People’s Choice Award since 2013 when she received the ‘People’s Voice’ Award.
