Cassadee Pope Says The Voice Contacted Her Father
Pope recently appeared on the Hold My Hair? podcast, where she chatted with host Courtney Michelle Dlugos about her time on The Voice. The singer said the show’s staff “treat their artists so well,” adding that some seemed “trained to be counselors.”
She said The Voice is different from other reality competition shows because they “don’t want to make a spectacle out of everybody.” However, there was one moment when producers got a little too involved in her personal life after she revealed that she hadn’t spoken to her father in a year.
“They got me on an extra vulnerable, sleep deprived day and they got me to talk about my relationship with my dad, which I wish I hadn’t done … but it was such a vulnerable time for me that I just let it out,” Pope recalled, according to Us Weekly.
The show ended up getting in touch with her father, and she said it was “kind of hilarious” how they brought it up: “They were like, ‘We found your father.’ And I was like, ‘I didn’t lose my father.’ I have his number.”

Pope Rejected the Idea of a Reunion with Her Dad
Pope admitted that The Voice contacting her father “wasn’t the best thing they did.” They apparently asked if she wanted to have an on-camera reunion with him in her at-home visit during the season. Pope said her response was, “No. Absolutely not.”
“I genuinely felt like they saw me open up, they saw America react so strongly to me opening up about my story that they were like, ‘We know this will help her,’” Pope said. “They were, like, trying to help me do better in the competition, which I appreciated.”
Pope competed on Blake Shelton’s team, and she told Dlugos that the coach had a “paternal vibe” and was “incredibly supportive.” She added, “He continued to be, even after the show. He was always checking in and being that sort of male figure in my life.”
