Britney Spears has reportedly been “much happier” recently, as she celebrated her birthday and reunited with her 18-year-old son Jayden. The pop star has also finalized her divorce from Sam Asghari.
Why Britney Spears Is ‘Much Happier’ Lately
According to Us Weekly, Spears recently celebrated her 43rd birthday in Mexico. She shared an Instagram video of a cake her friend gave her and joked that she was “turning 5” and starting kindergarten. In another post, she wrote that she’s “so blessed.”
“In many ways, Britney seems much happier than she was last year,” a source told the outlet. Part of that has to do with the singer reconnecting with her son Jayden. A second source said, “He’s open to mending the relationship with his mom and seeing where things go. Britney was very excited to hear from him; [it] means everything to her.”
Things have also apparently improved with Spears’ other son, 19-year-old Preston. A third source told Us Weekly that Spears “would love a second chance with them.” She’s also reportedly working on mending her relationship with her mother Lynne, who wished her a happy birthday on Facebook.
Spears and her sons had been estranged from each other since 2022, when they declined to attend her wedding to Asghari. They later moved to Hawaii with their father, Spears’ ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Spears Recently Finalized Her Divorce
In June 2022, Spears married Sam Asghari, a model and fitness trainer. Asghari filed for divorce last August, and it was finalized on December 2 — which happened to be Spears’ birthday. Although a judgment was entered in the case in May of this year, the couple wasn’t declared legally single until this month.
This was Spears’ third marriage. Her first, to childhood friend Jason Alexander, lasted only 55 hours. The pair tied the knot in Las Vegas in 2004, but the marriage was quickly annulled. Later that same year, Spears married dancer Kevin Federline. In 2006, Spears filed for divorce. It was finalized in July 2007.
Spears’ last album, Glory, was released in 2016. Last year, she released a memoir titled The Woman in Me, which became a No. 1 New York Times best-seller.
