Blake Shelton is still adjusting to city life with his fiancé Gwen Stefani. The Oklahoma native has spent a lot of time in Los Angeles coaching The Voice since 2011. In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, Shelton joked that Stefani is the one who is the breadwinner in the relationship when it comes to living in California for half the year.
Blake Shelton Claims to be Living off of Gwen Stefani in Los Angeles
Shelton has won the most number of season’s in the history of The Voice and has cemented himself as the King of The Voice. He just won his eighth season of the NBC show with artist Cam Anthony. Stefani brought home the win last season with teen singer Carter Rubin. The couple has been a dominating force on the show since they started coaching together in 2014. They began dating a year later and got engaged in October 2020.
“I always just feel like, hey, look, if I go somewhere, then it must mean that I’m ready to high-five some people when I get out there … It took away the public side of my life and pushed me into it,” Shelton said about The Voice. “But you know what, I’m weird anyway. I live out in the middle of nowhere in Oklahoma. And I mean, I am in L.A. half the time, but I’m pretty much a slug here.”
Shelton and Stefani spent quarantine at his Oklahoma ranch last year. They were surrounded by their families and Stefani got a dose of the farm life before Shelton got down on one knee. The couple has also climbed up the charts with the success of their duets “Happy Anywhere” and “Nobody But You.” Even after all of the amazing things they have done together, Shelton still maintains that he is a homebody in Los Angeles.
“I live off of Gwen here and I just hide in the house so I got it pretty good,” Shelton said.
Shelton Loves Working with Stefani on Songs and Concerts
All jokes aside, Shelton is still starstruck whenever he gets to work with Stefani. He enjoys surprising his fans by bringing her out to perform with him at his concerts. Live music is slowly returning and Shelton will be embarking on a tour this summer in the United States. Stefani will most likely join him for a couple of shows before she resumes her Las Vegas residency this fall.
“I still have those moments when we get into work mode, I know that it should be super like emotional and personal and this, because we haven’t done that many, we’ve done four songs together, and I’m still more in blown away fan shocked mode when I actually work with her,” he said.
Shelton said that performing with Stefani on stage makes him feel like “a kid on Christmas morning.” For over two decades, Stefani has dominated both pop and ska music. It was only a matter of time before she stole the heart of the world’s biggest country artist and his adoring fans.
