Ben Platt May Have Just Won Season 16 of ‘AGT’ with His Perfect Guest Performance

Ben Platt pretty much just blew every single America’s Got Talent act out of the water this season. The Tony Award-winning Dear Evan Hansen star took the stage at the live results show on Wednesday. His rendition of “You Will Be Found” was beyond phenomenal.

Platt was joined on stage by a group of singers who harmonized together beautifully. After a season full of shaky live performances, we were starting to doubt the production value on AGT. He really changed all of our minds. Seriously, our entire office was swaying back and forth while listening to Platt sing. The Politician star just gained a whole bunch of new fans.
His performance was such a nice change of pace from the anxiety of the night. Two Golden Buzzers ended up in the Instant Save. That pretty much never happens. Jimmie Herrod gave a performance that was very worthy of a Broadway stage and somehow is now left fighting for votes. He is up against voiceover legend Michael Winslow and World Taekwondo Demonstration Team.
The Dear Evan Hansen movie is out later this month so this performance was the ultimate promo. It was the best distraction from the nail-biting results. All of the acts can take inspiration from Platt’s confidence and calmness on stage, just in time for their big finale performances.
AGT has been crushing it with all of the performers they have invited to the results shows this season. Since they’ve managed to get Platt in the semifinals, it raises questions about who will perform at the finale. Typically, each of the Top 10 acts performs with a celebrity. We would absolutely love it if Platt came back to perform another one of his meaningful ballads.
