Amid Coronavirus, This Couple Had Their Wedding In Animal Crossing

Would you hold your wedding in Animal Crossing? That’s what one couple recently did when their real-life wedding had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Couple Has Animal Crossing Wedding During Coronavirus Pandemic
The wedding in question was between 28-year-old Sharmin Asha and Nazmul Ahmed. According to the Washington Post, they were supposed to get married on April 12, but had to postpone it until next year due to coronavirus regulations.
After canceling, the couple started playing Animal Crossing. Eventually, Nazmul put together a surprise wedding for the two of them in the game. Their friends’ Animal Crossing characters were even there as guests at the event, which happened on the beach.

“It took me around four or five hours to set the whole thing up,” Nazmul told the Post. “Our friends played [the game] already, so they were immediately on board.” Sharmin added, “For us to have to go through the cancellation of our wedding, seeing all the people we care about come together meant a lot to me.”
Of course, the ceremony wasn’t legally binding, so the couple still plans to have a real-life wedding. But it’s a nice substitute while they’re required to stay at home. And they’re not the only ones holding virtual events in the video game world.
People Are Holding Other Events In Animal Crossing
The Washington Post reports that other people have held weddings in Animal Crossing during the pandemic, even designing clothes using the game’s customization tools. One college senior, Dang Ton, made a video of himself accepting a diploma in the game.

Meanwhile, Evan Latt had his 31st birthday party in Animal Crossing, visiting his friends in the game and chatting on Zoom. Another player, named Traylor, set up a Pokémon tournament in the game.
This is the first new Animal Crossing release since 2012, and it looks like the game makers chose the perfect time to put it out. It’s keeping a lot of people entertained and connected during this challenging time.
