‘AGT’ Finale Recap: Top 10 Acts Perform for America’s Vote

America’s Got Talent returned on Tuesday for the first night of the Season 21 finale, as the Top 10 acts took the stage to perform for America’s vote. We’ll find out on Wednesday night which act will be named the AGT winner.

Which Top 10 Acts Impressed in the AGT Finale?

The standout performance from Tuesday night’s finale performance episode of AGT came from 16-year-old Nene Royal, who rocked out on her guitar to a stellar cover of “Seven Nation Army” by the White Stripes. As usual, Nene showed off an incredible stage presence, declaring herself a “rock star” afterward.

The judges were blown away by Nene’s talent, with guest judge KSI (who was filling in for Simon Cowell) calling her performance “out of this world.” Mel B said she was glad she pressed the Golden Buzzer for Nene during the Quarterfinals to send her straight into the finale. Howie Mandel told Nene that she should win the show.

Another impressive performance from Tuesday’s show came from magician Geno Ploeger, who predicted which cards the AGT judges would pick seemingly at random by revealing that they contained meaningful photos from their lives. At the end of the act, he revealed that photos KSI chose filled in a puzzle showing a photo of Geno as a kid.

“How did you do it?” KSI wondered after the performance, while Mel B told Geno, “You amaze me.” Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara said they could tell how much it means to Geno that he’s been given the chance to perform on the show.

Howie Mandel Wants to Produce One Act’s Show

Howie Mandel made quite the promise during Tuesday’s AGT episode when he told his Golden Buzzer act Hundred Fingers (a magic group from South Korea) that he wants to produce a Las Vegas show for them if they don’t win the show. Meanwhile, Mel B called their latest performance “the best you could possibly do,” and KSI described it as “spectacular.”

Hundred Fingers isn’t the only act you might see in Las Vegas after the show. Before Royal Lasers’ fun performance during Tuesday’s finale, the light-up dance group found out that they had been invited by Season 12 finalists Light Balance to headline a show with them. Vergara called them “one of the most fun acts we’ve had this season.”

Another group who wowed during Tuesday’s show was Korean dance group “Come Here,” who delivered a routine set to “Look What You Made Me Do” by Taylor Swift. Vergara marveled at how synchronized they were, although Mandel said he preferred the group’s audition.

Robot act Unitree also received mixed reactions from the judges, with Vergara calling them “spectacular” while Mel B said she wished the robots hadn’t been covered by costumes. She wanted it to be more obvious that they were robots, prompting Mandel to become annoyed with her.

Which Dog Act Came Out on Top?

The AGT Season 21 finale featured not one but two dog acts. First up was Acro Canine Crew, who delivered an energetic performance set to “I Want to Dance with Somebody” by Whitney Houston. Mandel said they were “best in show,” while Mel B said the act “made me smile.”

Later on, young dog trainer Olivia Befus took the stage with her pups, who rode tricycles and jumped rope. There were a few bumpy moments in the routine, but the judges were supportive. Vergara said she could sense Olivia’s nerves, and she thought the dogs might have felt her energy as well.

Rounding out the Top 10 in Tuesday’s finale were 14-year-old singer Lai Noelle, who delivered a powerhouse rendition of “Risk It All” by Bruno Mars; and aerialist Veronika Goroshkova, who soared above the judges’ table and had Mel B saying she “pulled out all the stops.”
