American Idol Top 5 Revealed on Disney Night

Before Sunday’s show, the American Idol Top 7 got to visit Disneyland, where they were mentored by Lin-Manuel Miranda. During the show, the contestants performed famous songs from Disney movies such as Moana and The Lion King. The singers also performed Mother’s Day tributes.

One standout performance came from Jamal Roberts, who sang “Go the Distance” from Hercules. Jamal showed off a powerhouse voice, earning a standing ovation from the judges. Carrie Underwood praised him for making the theme his own each week. Later in the show, Jamal performed “A Change Is Gonna Come” by Sam Cooke in honor of his late stepmother.

Another touching Mother’s Day performance came from John Foster, who honored his mom with a cover of “Believe” by Brooks & Dunn. The judges gave John a standing ovation, with Luke Bryan saying he keeps “doing the right things” every week. Elsewhere in the show, John performed “Almost There” from The Princess and the Frog.

Voting was open to viewers during the show. At the end of the night, Jamal Roberts and John Foster made it into the Top 5, along with Breanna Nix, Slater Nalley, and Thunderstorm Artis. They’ll return to the stage on Monday for the second part of Disney Night, performing songs from heroes and villains.

Who Was Eliminated from the Competition?

Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to two talented singers during Sunday night’s American Idol episode. Those singers turned out to be Gabby Samone and Mattie Pruitt — the latter of whom was saved from elimination by the judges last week.

During Sunday’s show, Gabby performed “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana, as well as “Home” from The Wiz for Mother’s Day. Meanwhile, Mattie sang “Remember Me” from Coco, along with “Those Kind of Women” by Lauren Alaina.

There is now only one female singer left in the competition — Breanna Nix. Will she make it into the Season 23 finale? We’ll find out during Monday’s show, as the Top 5 contestants take the stage for their last chance to make it to the Finals.
