‘American Idol’ Top 24 Perform All-Star Duets And Solos [VOTE]

American Idol Season 19 returned on Sunday night for the first round of All-Star Duets and Solos, featuring 12 out of the Top 24 artists. This is the first time this season that viewers can vote for their favorites.
Vote for your chosen contestants on the American Idol website, through the show’s app, or by texting the number associated with the artist to 21523. You can vote 10 times per contestant per method. Voting is open until 6 am ET on Monday morning.

Alanis Sophia
This singer kicked off the show with a performance of “Alive” by Sia. For her all-star duet, she performed with American Idol alum Jimmie Allen. They performed “Shallow” by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

Katy Perry complimented Alanis’ solo performance, but said she felt the difference between Alanis and Jimmy in the duet performance. Luke Bryan said she needed to work on “owning the stage.”
Cassandra Coleman
This singer performed “Find Me” by Sigma and Birdy for her solo performance. She teamed up with Ryan Tedder from OneRepublic to sing his song “Apologize.” Ryan accompanied them on piano.
Lionel Richie said he can see that Cassandra is trying to concentrate while she sings. Luke said she’s “in your own lane” on the show, with an original style. Katy called her voice a “spiritual experience.”
Alyssa Wray
This singer delivered a solo performance of “Something in the Water” by Carrie Underwood. She then teamed up with with former Idol contestant Katharine McPhee to perform “I’m Your Baby Tonight” by Whitney Houston.
Lionel said Alyssa and Katharine complemented each other. Katy said Alyssa held her own with Katharine, but told her to “be the feeling” during her performances, rather than thinking about it too much.
Wyatt Pike
This singer performed “rubberband” by Tate McRae for his solo performance. Wyatt then teamed up with Ben Rector for an all-star duet of Ben’s song “Brand New.”

Katy called Wyatt “an authentic, superstar musician” who could go on tour right now. Luke said the performance made him emotional. Lionel said he “owned that moment.”
Alana
This singer performed “Blow Your Mind (Mwah)” by Dua Lipa for her solo performance. For her all-star duet, she teamed up with Brian McKnight for a performance of his song “Back at One.”
Luke said Alana had “great energy” on her solo, and came into her own during her performance with Brian. Lionel complimented her stage presence, but said she needs “more attitude.”
Anilee List
This singer performed “My Future” by Billie Eilish for her solo performance. For her all-star duet, she teamed up with Joss Stone to perform “Tell Me Something Good” by Rufus and Chaka Khan.
Lionel said Anilee was comfortable on stage, and said she should use Joss Stone as an example. Katy said she “took us all to church,” but added that she wanted to hear more ad libs.
Deshawn Goncalves
This singer performed “Forever Young” by Bob Dylan for his solo performance. For his all-star duet, he teamed up with Ryan Tedder to perform “I Lived” by OneRepublic.

Katy said Deshawn’s voice was in the top three during this season. Luke added that his voice “takes us to a nice place.” Lionel advised him to enjoy it rather than think about it too much.
Graham DeFranco
This singer performed “Raye” by John Splithoff for his solo performance. For his all-star duet, he teamed up with Ben Rector to sing Ben’s song “Love Like This.”
Luke said Graham’s voice is “so listenable,” and said he chose the right song for his solo performance. Lionel said he has a “great storytelling voice.” Katy said she felt more of a connection to his second song.
Andrea Valles
This singer, who was wearing an eye patch after surgery, performed “Lo Vas A Olvidar” by Billie Eilish and Rosalia for her solo performance. For her all-star duet, she teamed up with Brian McKnight to perform “Careless Whisper” by George Michael.
Lionel said their voices complemented each other. Katy said Andrea has “so many tricks up your sleeve,” and complimented her cool eye patch. Luke told Andrea that she has “star quality.”
Cecil Ray
This singer performed “Paint Me a Birmingham” by Tracy Lawrence for his solo performance. Then he teamed up with Jimmie Allen for a duet of “Freedom Was a Highway” by Jimmie and Brad Paisley.
Katy said Cecil is the underdog in this competition, saying he seemed more natural in his duet than in his solo performance. Luke said he had some pitch problems that he hasn’t heard from him before.
Willie Spence
This singer performed “Wind Beneath My Wings” by Bette Midler for his solo. For his all-star duet, he teamed up with Katharine McPhee to perform “The Prayer” by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli, dedicated to Willie’s grandfather.
Luke told Willie he can “do no wrong,” adding that he’s “in love” with him. Lionel said he made the song his own, calling him a “true superstar.” Katy called it “goosebump central.”
Grace Kinstler
This singer performed “Queen” by Jessie J for her solo performance. For her all-star duet, she teamed up with Joss Stone to perform “Midnight Train to Georgia” by Gladys Knight and the Pips.
Lionel said he needed to compose himself before sharing his thoughts, calling Grace a “winning package.” Katy said it was a “timeless” performance. Luke said he was excited to watch Grace grow.
