‘American Idol’ Shares Preview Video After Not Airing on Oscar Sunday
Reading Time: 2 minutes
If you’re a fan of American Idol, you probably noticed that the show didn’t air on Sunday night. This was due to the Academy Awards airing on ABC in Idol‘s usual time slot. However, the show did share a preview highlighting an upcoming audition.
American Idol Shares Preview for Season 22 Auditions
ABC’s lineup on Sunday night featured a live broadcast of the 96th Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. After the awards, the network aired a new episode of the comedy Abbott Elementary. That meant there was no new American Idol.
However, the show didn’t leave fans completely empty-handed. A preview video was released featuring shots from even more auditions from Season 22. The clip highlights one singer in particular — Alto Moon.
According to the clip, Alto is a 27-year-old singer from Alpharetta, Georgia, who works as a shipper/receiver. For his audition, Alto sang an original song called “Lemonz” for the panel, showing off great energy as he shouted out the judges in the lyrics.
As Lionel Richie told him after his performance, “Bring the party to the stage.” The judges chose to give Alto a Golden Ticket to Hollywood.

Katy Perry Says Auditioners Have ‘So Much Passion’
Alto Moon isn’t the only singer featured in the preview clip from American Idol. The video also gives us glimpses of several other singers’ auditions, as they celebrate getting Golden Tickets from the panel. Richie teased that these contestants are “not shy.”
“There’s so much passion on this show,” Katy Perry shared about this season, adding that it’s “such a gift” for her to “be able to truly make dreams come true” as a judge.
There’s still one more Platinum Ticket left to give away this season. So far, Odell Bunton Jr. and Abi Carter received the honor, which allows them to skip the first round of Hollywood Week. Who will receive the third ticket? We might find out next Sunday when Season 22 returns on ABC.
