Flintz, 22, and Taylor, 17, shared that they met on Instagram during the first lockdown of the pandemic in 2020. They did Instagram lives together, but they hadn’t met in person until they came to audition for BGT.

The song they performed was an original by Flintz, who said he was a “troublesome kid” who was “going down the wrong path.” He said his parents helped him out of it, and he wanted to inspire his younger brothers to “be better than me.”

Flintz rapped the song while Taylor played the piano. The judges gave the duo a standing ovation for the passionate performance, which brought tears to Dixon’s eyes. Flintz’s parents could also be seen wiping away tears in the audience. Simon Cowell called it “real.”

Dixon told Flintz that he has “something to say.” She went on to hit the Golden Buzzer, telling the duo, “They say in life, save the best ’til last.” Flintz and Taylor hugged each other in an emotional moment of celebration.

This Is the Fifth Golden Buzzer of Season 15

All four BGT judges, as well as the show’s hosts Ant and Dec, have now hit the Golden Buzzer for their favorite acts during Season 15. Those acts will head straight to the live shows later this season.

This season’s Golden Buzzers feature some refreshing variety, as only two of them are music acts. Amanda Holden hit her buzzer for The Greatest Showman singer Loren Allred, while Cowell chose to hit his for comedian Axel Blake. David Walliams gave the honor to dance group Born to Perform, while Ant and Dec hit theirs for magician Keiichi Iwasaki.

This is the first year BGT has aired since 2020, as the show skipped the 2021 season due to Covid-19 protocols. It’s also Cowell’s first time back in quite some time, as he missed the 2020 live shows due to his electric bike accident.
