According to a new report, coaching on The Voice isn’t Queen Latifah’s preferred gig, and she “would rather be acting.” Latifah will be joining the show for Season 30 this fall and then The Voice: Celebrity next year.
‘The Voice’ Wasn’t Queen Latifah’s First Choice of Job
A source recently spoke to Star magazine about Queen Latifah’s decision to join The Voice as a coach — specifically the celebrity version of the show which will air next year. The insider claims that Latifah will be earning $5 million for the gig.
“Everybody who knows Latifah knows that she would rather be acting than making a reality TV show,” the source explained. “But The Voice: Celebrity was the best offer in front of her and she hates sitting at home doing nothing when she could be out working.”
Season 31 of the show will feature celebrities as contestants, with Keke Palmer taking over for Carson Daly as the show’s host. Queen Latifah will sit on the coaching panel alongside Riley Green (who is joining the show for Season 30) and new coach Joe Jonas.
The source called it a “good gig” for Latifah, adding, “They can shoot an entire season in less than half the time it would take to shoot a scripted show … with an opportunity to make a lot more if everybody comes back for a second season.”
