American Idol Season 2 winner Ruben Studdard recently stunned fans with his weight loss transformation, as a new photo of the singer sparked comments on Instagram. Studdard was a contestant on The Biggest Loser back in 2013.
Ruben Studdard Wows Fans with Weight Loss
Earlier this week, Bewitched star Erin Murphy posted a selfie with American Idol winner Ruben Studdard on Instagram. The two stars are appearing together on Great American Road Rally: Celebrity Edition, premiering on the CW September 2.
Fans in the comments of Murphy’s post took note of Studdard’s slimmer appearance, with one person writing, “He’s lost weight! Good for him.” Another fan joked, “Ruben Studdard?? Where’s the rest of him?”
In 2013, a decade after his Idol win, Studdard appeared on The Biggest Loser. He weighed 462 pounds at the start of his journey, and he ended up losing over 100 pounds. Afterward, he told Today that he was determined to keep up his healthier lifestyle.
“I’ve been working out every day and have really made a positive change in my life,” Studdard shared. “I got some shocking news this season when I found out I was type 2 diabetic, so I’ve been working hard every day to change that.”

Studdard Released an Album in 2023
Ruben Studdard’s most recent album, The Way I Remember It, was released in 2023. The 10-track project featured the single “Masterpiece.” The following year, Studdard released a Christmas EP titled My Favorite Holiday.
Also in 2024, Studdard and his American Idol Season 2 runner-up Clay Aiken appeared together on Season 11 of The Masked Singer. They competed on the show as “Beets,” ending the competition in fifth place.
