America’s Got Talent Season 21 returned on Tuesday night for a new episode of auditions. During the show, both Simon Cowell and Mel B pressed the Golden Buzzer for some incredible acts.
Simon Cowell, Mel B Press Golden Buzzers on AGT
The first Golden Buzzer of the night went to Rubén Roldán, a 23-year-old Spanish amputee who lost his leg in a tractor accident. Rubén removed his prosthetic leg to perform some incredible parkour moves, starting outside the venue and ending on the show’s stage.
Rubén earned a standing ovation from all four of the AGT judges, and Simon Cowell was so impressed the he pressed the Golden Buzzer to send Rubén straight into the live shows. Rubén got emotional over the amazing moment.
Later in the show, a 25-year-old English singer named Mackenzie Sol took the stage, sharing that he auditioned for Cowell on The X Factor when he was just 4 years old. For his AGT audition, Mackenzie performed “Back to Friends” by Sombr.
The performance earned a standing ovation. Mel B was the first judge to give her thoughts on the audition, and she wasted no time pressing the Golden Buzzer to send Mackenzie straight into the live shows, calling his performance “absolutely extraordinarily fabulous.”
Several other acts from Tuesday night’s show wowed the AGT judges, despite the fact that they didn’t earn the Golden Buzzer. That includes James & Marina, a married mentalist duo who previously auditioned for Season 17 of the show as Mind2Mind.
The pair stunned the panel and audience, as Marina guessed various objects seemingly at random, without looking. She even recited the numbers on a parking ticket and a dollar bill. Mel B called it “one of my favorite acts of this season by far.” The pair earned four “yes” votes to move on.
There were also several music acts that impressed the judges during this week’s episode of AGT, including a performance by 23-year-old singer Brook Lynn, who is from the Netherlands. She overcame her nerves to deliver a performance that Mel called “so, so beautiful,” earning for “yes” votes.
The judges were also charmed by the duo Madelyn Tallent and Malachi Martin, who put a country spin on the song “Counting Stars” by OneRepublic. Although Howie Mandel wasn’t wowed, the pair earned three “yes” votes. Meanwhile, Sofia Vergara called Bird & Byron’s original song performance “the most perfect audition I have seen this season.” They earned four “yes” votes.
Some Acts Surprised the Panel
There were a few acts that took the judges by surprise during Tuesday’s new episode of AGT. That includes French performer Herwan Legaillard, who showed off an aerial silks routine combined with sword swallowing. He even swallowed a sword under water. Herwan earned a standing ovation and four “yes” votes.
The episode also featured a performance by Mr. Hammerhand, who auditioned in Season 18 and failed to break a record for smashing coconuts. This time, he set out to break the record for most baseball bats broken by hand in 30 seconds. The judges were doubtful, but he managed to do it, breaking the record of 25 with a total of 31. He earned four “yes” votes to move on.
The final audition of the night was probably the most surprising. A German performer named Patrox showed off some strange dance moves set to odd music, confusing the judges. But when he played his performance in reverse, it looked incredible. Cowell called it “absolutely genius,” while Mandel predicted that it would be a “viral moment.” Patrox earned four “yes” votes.
