Simon Cowell is once again trying to form the next big singing group on a new show called Who’s in the Band. Mel B and Joe Jonas are reportedly joining the project as celebrity judges. This is separate from another talent show from Cowell called The Next Act, premiering on Netflix later this year.
Simon Cowell’s New Show to Feature Mel B, Joe Jonas
According to The Sun, Cowell’s new talent show Who’s in the Band will film its pilot episode later this month. Cowell will be one of the show’s judges, alongside Mel B, Joe Jonas, and KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack writer Savan Kotecha. The show will reportedly be hosted by KPop Demon Hunters star Rei Ami.
Cowell apparently developed the idea for the show with Kotecha and former TV presenter Richard Bacon. The Sun reports that the show’s format will be similar to Cowell’s former show The X Factor, which created groups such as One Direction and Little Mix.
Who’s in the Band will reportedly feature teen contestants from both the UK and the United States competing to join a band. This isn’t the only making-the-band-style talent show Cowell currently has up his sleeve.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Cowell’s new six-episode docuseries Simon Cowell: The Next Act would be premiering on Netflix in December 2025. A more specific release date for the project has yet to be confirmed by the streaming service.
The show is reportedly focused on Cowell’s attempt to put together another popular singing group, with Netflix writing, “From raw open casting calls to the release of the group’s debut single, this is an all-access pass for viewers to catch every moment of Cowell’s next chapter. Will he strike gold and break industry records once again?”
