What’s to Love and Not to Love About Blake Shelton? — Here’s What Fans and Haters Say
Reading Time: 3 minutes
From his genius cowboy songs to his funny antics on The Voice, country music veteran Blake Shelton is well-loved by fans. His comical and cheeky personality has brought pleasure to fans, making him a dream to a lot of women. Nonetheless, it’s also no secret that Shelton has faced several controversies years back — building a number of unwanted haters.
Fans Think Blake Shelton is the Perfect Cowboy Heartthrob
If there’s one thing noticeable about Shelton, it’s that he’s not afraid to take pride in his country roots. When he attends fancy events, he’s never shy to slip on his cowboy uniform — dark jeans, dark jacket, button-up, and weathered cowboy boots. There are rarely moments where he sports a tie, as he obviously prefers feeling casual. This fact is apparently cute thing for fans, given that his wife is the one and only Gwen Stefani.
Speaking of his wife, fans who stuck around with Shelton for years know how he lovingly chatters about Stefani. On television and social media, Shelton has always been unpretentious and timid about expressing his love for her. From his sweet compliments to romantic eye-looks, fans are plainly in bliss to see how badly whipped the cowboy is.
Last but never the least, it’s Shelton’s sense of humor that people love the most. He’s arguably the funniest coach on The Voice, especially when he makes it a mission to annoy Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine. His signature “point” is iconic, and his cocky statements, for some reasons, are rather hilarious than irritating.
Die-hard fans could further go into detail. Yet, in essence, Blake Shelton is that funny and handsome singing cowboy that’s undoubtedly the “sexiest man alive.”
He’s Received Backlash Before for Being “Problematic”
However, Shelton was never marked safe from controversial issues. In 2016, his old tweets happened to resurface which many construed as homophobic, sexist, racist, and bodyshaming. His tweets involved mocking lesbians, talking violence against gay men, among others.
Soon after he was called out, the country singer was quick to delete the tweets. He also made a public apology, admitting that his humor could at times be inappropriate and immature.
Apparently, some fans of Gwen Stefani were also unhappy that the pop star ended up marrying Shelton. In a Slate article written by Christina Cauterucci, it was hard to ponder why Stefani chose “her loutish, insecure Voice co-star as her next mate.”
“He has a history of retweeting negative comments, egging on his fanbase to come to the defense of his paper-thin ego,” Cauterucci wrote.
Furthermore, while many fans felt sad regarding Shelton’s retirement from The Voice, many viewers of the ABC series are delighted. For their part, it’s time that Shelton gave up his seat for someone new or someone that’s not too focused on country music.
It’s like you read my mind! You appear to know a lot about this, like you wrote the book on it or something. I think that you could do with some pics to drive the message home a little bit, but instead of that, this is a fantastic blog. An excellent read. I will certainly be back.
