Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani on The Voice season 22

Former The Voice coach Blake Shelton recently hyped up his wife Gwen Stefani’s new song “True Babe” on Instagram. He wrote that he’s “so proud” of Stefani for the track. Shelton even posted a funny video rewriting the song’s lyrics.

Blake Shelton Promotes Gwen Stefani’s New Song

“True Babe” is Stefani’s first new single since she released “Slow Clap” in 2021. In the song’s chorus, Stefani sings, “‘Cause it’s true, babe, true, babe / I’m sleeping better next to you, babe, you, babe / You’re something sweet, something true, babe, true, babe.”

Shelton took to Instagram after the song’s release to share the single art and write, “My wife put out a new song today.. you know… THE GWEN STEFANI!!!!!!! Go listen people!!!! It’s a hit!!!!! I’m so proud of you @gwenstefani!!!”

Later, Shelton posted a video of himself working on his ranch, singing some new lyrics to the tune of Stefani’s song. “Take the truck and cut up this tree,” he sang. In the caption, he wrote, “Playing the SHIT out of @gwenstefani’s new song ‘True Babe’!!! Even writing new lyrics!!”

Stefani retweeted the video and called it the “greatest rewrite ever,” adding, “Wish I would have thought of that!!!” She included several laughing emojis and told Shelton, “dang it I love u!”

Is the New Song About Shelton?

“I wanna fly to your shows / Wanna wake up in your clothes,” Stefani sings on her new track. “Come get you tipsy at 6:30 / Wanna take tonight slow.”

The song definitely seems to be a tribute to her relationship with Shelton, whom she married in 2021. FAULT magazine recently described the track as a “wholesome love song and an open letter to her country-singing husband, Blake Shelton.”

When asked how Shelton feels about the song, Stefani told the publication that he likes it. She also teased that she’s been working on even more music for her upcoming new album. Hopefully fans will be able to listen to the full project soon.
