America’s Got Talent has shared an early release audition from next week’s new episode of Season 18, featuring a magician named Sangsoon Kim. He set out to prove he was better than Season 17 finalist Yu Hojin.
Magician Sangsoon Kim Wows in AGT Early Release
Sangsoon told the judges before his audition that he’s a 28-year-old magician from South Korea who used to serve in the military before pursuing magic. He added that he had met fellow magician Yu Hojin.
“We kept talking about AGT, and I thought, ‘Oh, I can go, because I’m better,’” Sangsoon explained about his choice to try out.
Sangsoon went on to perform a unique magic routine involving sneakers. He started by changing the shoes’ colors in the blink of an eye. Then he put a large shoe into a box, and turned it into a smaller shoe.
He went on to magically lace the shoe and create a matching one out of thin air. The most mind-boggling moment came when he made the lace from one shoe reach across to the other one.

The Judges Gave Sangsoon a Standing Ovation
Sangsoon ended his performance by turning the small shoe into a larger one again. Then he changed the color of the shoes he was wearing from white to red. The audience was stunned by the routine.
The panel was clearly impressed by Sangsoon’s audition, because all four judges gave him a standing ovation when it was over. We’ll have to wait until the new episode to find out what they had to say about it.
AGT is currently airing Season 18 auditions, with a new episode set to premiere on NBC Tuesday night at 8/7c. Four acts have earned the Golden Buzzer so far, but we’re still waiting to find out who Sofia Vergara and Heidi Klum chose.
