Katy Perry Dresses Like Elastigirl on American Idol Disney Night
On Sunday night, Perry shared photos of her costume on Twitter, writing that her “secret identity is… Mom … Katy Perry … Popstar … #Idol judge.” She added, “But tonight I’m ELASTIGIRL.” The costume was also special for Mother’s Day, as Elastigirl is a mom.
Perry has been dressing up as Disney characters since her very first season as judge on the show, when Disney Night became a tradition after to the move to ABC. She always goes all out, resulting in some seriously iconic outfits. Let’s take a look back at some previous examples.
1. Ariel
Last year, for Season 20 of American Idol, Perry sat at the judges’ desk dressed as Ariel from The Little Mermaid, complete with hair that made it look like she was underwater. She also had a mermaid tail that made it hard to balance. Perry ended up falling over in her chair in a hilarious moment.
2. Tinkerbell
In Season 19 of the show, Perry sprinkled some pixie dust to transform herself into Tinkerbell from Peter Pan. The outfit came complete with fairy wings and bleached blonde eyebrows. The look didn’t last for long, as Perry dyed her eyebrows back once the show was over.
3. Mrs. Jumbo
In Season 18, Perry was pregnant and judging from home due to the Covid-19 pandemic. But that didn’t stop her from dressing up on Disney Night. The singer donned a costume that made her look like Mrs. Jumbo from Dumbo, with her dog Nugget playing the titular role
4. Ursula
In Season 17, Perry went villainous as Ursula from The Little Mermaid. She sported purple face makeup, spikey hair, and tentacles. She stayed in character during the show, acting like a villain and snacking on seafood.
5. Snow White
In Season 16, Perry donned her very first Disney Night costume. She kept it classic, dressing as the original Disney princess Snow White. Perry wore a spot-on recreation of Snow White’s dress, and she even sang a little bit of “Someday My Prince Will Come.”
