American Idol Top 3 Revealed on Disney Night
During Sunday’s show, the Top 5 performed two songs each, all of which were featured in Disney productions. They were mentored by The Descendants star Sofia Carson, and the episode also featured performances from Sara Bareilles and Halle Bailey.
Judge Katy Perry kept up her tradition of dressing up for Disney Night, as she appeared in a costume that made her look like Mrs. Incredible from The Incredibles. She and her fellow judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan shared their thoughts on the night’s performances.
At the end of the night, the Top 3 singers were announced to be Colin Stough, Megan Danielle, and Iam Tongi. Standout performances included Colin’s cover of “Nobody Knows” from Pete’s Dragon; Megan’s take on “Carry Me with You” from Onward; and Iam Tongi’s rendition of “Father and Son,” featured in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
The judges had plenty of great things to say about these singers. Richie told Colin that he does “an amazing job at holding the room.” Perry told Megan that her “confidence is on another level.” She also made a pun on Iam’s name, saying, “I. Am. The next American Idol.”

Wé Ani, Zachariah Smith Eliminated from the Competition
Unfortunately, two singers had to be eliminated during Sunday night’s show. After America’s vote, we had to say goodbye to Wé Ani and Zachariah Smith. Both singers pulled out all the stops for their Disney Night performances.
Wé delivered a powerful performance of “Into the Unknown” from Frozen 2, and then took on “The Climb” from Hannah Montana: The Movie. Meanwhile, Zachariah put on a show with “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” from The Lion King and “Life Is a Highway” from Cars.
Perry called Wé a “superhero of vocals” and a “master of your craft.” Meanwhile, Lionel Richie asked Zachariah after his second performance, “Who do you think you are?” Unfortunately, we won’t get to see these singers performing in the finale.
The Top 3 will take the stage next Sunday night for America’s vote, as the winner of American Idol Season 21 will finally be revealed. Do you agree with America’s choice of singers for the finale? Let us know in the comments below.
