Reading Time: 2 minutes
Former The Voice coach Ariana Grande recently took to TikTok to respond to comments wondering why she hasn’t been singing lately. The answer is, of course, that she’s busy filming the Wicked movies. To prove that she still has the pipes, Grande shared a video singing “Over the Rainbow.”

In her new TikTok video, Grande wears a pink sweater pulled over her head to hide the blonde hairdo she’s been sporting to play Glinda in the musical adaptations. She wrote on the clip that she was “mid getting ready.”
Grande also added a presumed comment she’s received from followers, writing, “wHy AreN’T yOu A sInGer AnyMoRee?!?!?” She added, in small print, “*is literally on set filming two musical movies all day every day*.”
The star wrote in the video’s caption that she “wanted to sing you a little something but don’t want to sing anything that is not ‘Ozian’ at the moment.” She added that she’s “keeping to my little bubble for now” and that the performance is “done with lots of love.”
Grande sang “Over the Rainbow,” originally performed by Judy Garland as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. The singer sounded amazing, and fans clearly loved the performance, as the clip has already received over 2 million likes.

Grande Hasn’t Released an Album Since 2020
In 2020, Grande released her sixth studio album, titled Positions. After more than two years, fans have started to wonder when they can expect to hear the singer’s next project. However, Grande admitted last year that she’s been focused on other things.
During a YouTube Q&A promoting her makeup brand R.E.M. Beauty, Grande told fans, “The truth is, I have not begun an album.” One reason for this is that she was busy with other ventures, including coaching on The Voice and preparing for Wicked.
Grande said she “went into full preparation mode” ahead of her audition for the musical adaptations. The singer has dreamed of playing Glinda since she was a kid, so it’s understandable that she would want to devote so much time and energy to the project.
Fans can look forward to the two Wicked movies being released on Christmas in 2024 and 2025.
