Kelly Clarkson Bawls Her Eyes Out Over Jershika Maple’s Performance

Jershika Maple came back to The Voice stage and owned it in the Top 13. She was the first singer to bring all of the coaches to their feet tonight. On top of that, the singer made Kelly Clarkson cry. Jershika performed “God Only Knows” by KING & COUNTRY. This emotional rendition was dedicated to the teachers that helped the singer in her youth.
This was probably the most emotional performance of the entire night. If you’ve been watching this season, you’ll know that Jershika wasn’t always a member of Team Legend. Originally she was on Team Kelly, but was stolen after her battle against Paris Winningham.
Kelly Clarkson Bawls Over This Performance
Immediately after Jershika’s performance all four coaches jumped to their feet. Clarkson was still wiping away her tears.
“I’m sorry, I was like pull it together, it’s so UGH you are such a beautiful, majestic messenger. What a perfect song what a perfect moment, what a perfect like just story to tell for this moment.” said Clarkson. “It was packaged so beautifully, It was so beautiful Jershika I’m such an idiot. I should’ve never let you go from my team, but I hope you come back and kick my behind.”
Then, Legend went on to talk about how important Christian music is to this singer. He noted that she is like a messenger with this piece. He shared that the coaches are honored to have moments with her on the show. Jershika’s rendition of this song was seriously beautiful, I couldn’t agree with the coaches more.
Jershika has given numerous outstanding performances in this competition. During the blind auditions she was one of the biggest names, but quickly began to lose chatter. I think this singer definitely deserves the chatter going into the next round of the competition. Her story definitely isn’t over yet.
