The Voice Australia Season 10 put on a show-stopping finale where a new winner was crowned. Bella Taylor Smith walked away with $100,000 and a recording contract with EMI Recorded Music Australia. Coach Guy Sebastian earned his first win on the show with the 23-year-old artist. The two-night finale event marked the end of one of the most exciting seasons since the series debuted in 2012.
Bella Taylor Smith Gives Guy Sebastian His First Win on ‘The Voice Australia’
The Voice Australia moved to Seven Network this year and was completely revamped to bring in more viewers. The Season 10 finale had over 1.3 million viewers tune in to see Bella crowned as the winner. This is huge for the series that struggled on Nine Network. The finale was pre-recorded back in April and filmed with four separate endings. It aired in September with a viewers’ poll where the audience got to vote for their favorite artists.
Each of the Final 4 performed twice. They got to perform with their coaches, which is where Bella really shined. Her rendition of “The Prayer” with Sebastian left all of the other coaches stunned. He referred to her as “Australia’s Adele.” The music teacher even received an offer to perform on Sebastian’s upcoming tour. Finalists Arlo Sim, G-Nat!on, and Mick Harrington also delivered incredible performances.
Bella was the frontrunner in the competition since her Blind Audition of “Ave Maria” aired. Sebastian used his block on Jessica Mauboy because he knew he wanted Bella on his team. In the finale, Bella performed “Never Enough,” a song Sebastian has been wanting to give to an artist and finally felt that he found the right person.
Bella and Sebastian both bonded over their shared faith. She is a member of the Hillsong church in Sydney where Sebastian has performed in the past. Bella also revealed what she planned to do with her prize money. In an appearance on Sunrise, Bella said she will “pay some bills” and “hopefully plan a holiday.”
A New Spinoff Show is Headed to Seven Network
The Voice Australia is expected to return for Season 11 after its success on Seven Network this year. Mauboy and Sebastian are likely to return as coaches. Producers are going to have to work hard to lock in veteran coach Keith Urban and Rita Ora for another season. A casting call has already begun the search for new talent.
The network also announced a new spinoff show called The Voice: Generations set to air in 2022. This is a new group-based spinoff hosted by Sonia Kruger. The Voice: Generations is a brand new concept where groups with members from all generations will be welcome to perform.
This could mean children singing with their fathers, family bands, lifelong friends, or anyone who loves music. The show will not have any age limit, but each group must represent more than one generation. Each group must also have at least two people in it, and at least one vocalist.
