Singer Competes Against His Twin Brother For A Spot On ‘The Voice UK’
Reading Time: 3 minutes
The Voice UK is always full of some stiff competition, but this time, twin brothers showed off their tremendous singing talents for a chance to land a spot on the show. Daniel Duke performed an unforgettable version of “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” that captivated the entire world. And there was no shortage of love during his audition from his brother James Duke who was patiently waiting for his chance to impress the coaches.
Daniel Duke And Twin James Duke Auditioned Separately For ‘The Voice UK’
Daniel described James as “the cool twin” because of the way he looks and dresses. James described Daniel as the more “sensible one” because of his mature personality. The pair were inseparable growing up but do have different musical styles. Daniel is more of a folk artist while James is a rocker.
Daniel’s audition was a beautiful display of his folk style and unique take on such a popular song in 2015. His family waited backstage along with James as they hoped one of the coaches would turn their chairs. Finally, during the very last note of the song, Tom Jones, will.i.am and Rita Ora turned their chairs. Daniel’s family and the crowd erupted into cheers.

Tom complimented Daniel for remastering the song and making it more “credible.” Rita called him “captivating” and praised him for his ability to make her feel like she was the only person in the room. It was obviously not an easy choice for Daniel but he ultimately ended up choosing to be on Team Tom. It was then time for James to audition in the hopes of making it onto the show just like his brother. He performed a mashup of “Love Story” and “Sugar, We’re Going Down.” Unfortunately, it was not enough to turn any chair, but he was still happy that his twin had made it onto the show.
Only One Twin Advanced On In The Competition
In the Battle Rounds, Daniel sang “Am I Wrong” against Cai Williams. He was the clear winner of The Battle and advanced on to The Knockouts.
He performed a unique version of Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” in The Knockouts. It was a huge hit with fans of The Voice UK and they were outraged when Tom sent him home. They flooded the YouTube comments section saying that Tom made the wrong decision because Daniel could have won the whole show.

“Thank you so much for all the lovely comments guys. I might not be through to the lives but there’s plenty more to come. A lot of amazing things have come my way since The Voice started and it’s been an incredible opening chapter to the rest of my career” Daniel commented on the video of his Knockouts performance.
