Gwen Stefani Dishes On Difficult Wedding Planning With Blake Shelton Amid Pandemic

Gwen Stefani is just one of the many brides whose wedding plans have been affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. She and fiancé Blake Shelton initially wanted to get married as soon as possible but would rather not have a wedding with restrictions during this difficult time in the world. She spoke to Ryan Seacrest about everything from the engagement to her new song.
Gwen Stefani And Blake Shelton’s Wedding May Be Delayed
Ryan sent his congratulations to Blake and Gwen on his radio show On Air With Ryan Seacrest. Gwen was glowing as she flashed her diamond sparkler to the camera. Gwen admitted that even looking at pictures of her and Blake together she thinks they look like an odd pairing but somehow they are “meant to be.”

“It’s so funny to even say ‘engaged,'” Gwen said. “It feels so weird. People have been saying it for so long, like five years, ‘Are you getting married? Are you engaged?’ And now we actually are and it feels like I’m in a cartoon or something.” Engagement rumors have been swirling for years between the couple who began dating in 2015. The real juicy stuff came out when Ryan asked Gwen about her and Blake’s wedding plans. “I would say I just want my parents there at this point” she said. “My parents wouldn’t come to Thanksgiving because they’re so scared so really would rather it not be a COVID situation. Like, I would rather not have masks and that kind of thing.”
“Even when you cut it down to just family, it’s too many people for COVID so we’re sort of going to see what happens in the next few months” Gwen continued.
Gwen Also Spoke About Her New Song And ‘Reintroducing’ Herself
Gwen recently released a single called “Let Me Reintroduce Myself.” She actually had a lot of help getting ideas from her fellow ‘Voice’ coach Kelly Clarkson. “I wasn’t even planning on doing a record,” Gwen said. “She’d been texting me through the pandemic sending me songs that she’d been writing, and I was like, ‘How are you doing this? I have to clean toilets, make dinner — I have no time for anything!’ It was crazy.”
The whole time during the interview Gwen was just in disbelief that she came out with a new song. She squealed with excitement when Ryan said he was going to play the song on the radio show. This is the first solo record she has put out in five years. Blake and Gwen previously had major success with their country duets “Nobody But You” and “Happy Anywhere.”

“I think I have like 20 songs now and they were written really fast and I just started thinking about if I did music, I want to go back to the start,” she explained. “My kids are starting to define who they are by the music they love…so I started thinking a lot about the reggae music and the ska music and how I started and going back to the basics so this song is kind of I reintroduced myself. Like, I’m still the same person but yet evolved, but I still love all the same things so this song is sort of about that.”
