Are Shawn Mendes And Camila Cabello Taking A Break?
A source told In Touch that Shawn and Camila had spent “months together” at Camila’s home in Miami during the pandemic. Shawn has allegedly chosen to go back to Los Angeles.
“The [original plan] was that Camila would go back to Los Angeles with him,” the source explained. “But they decided they needed to take a break from each other.” They added that both singers are currently working on their own albums, and they “need a little space to grow individually.”

“Despite their busy careers, they’ve spent much of the past year together. They were in love and were best friends — they still are,” they said. “The past year was a whirlwind for them and they supported each other so much. Nothing really went bad between them, they just realized they need some time apart.”
“They still talk and love each other,” the source assured fans. In Touch points out that the couple still follows each other on social media, and they haven’t deleted photos of each other, although Camila’s last Instagram post with Shawn was back in May.
Shawn And Camila’s Relationship History
In 2014, when Camila was still in Fifth Harmony, she and Shawn met while opening for Austin Mahone. There have been dating rumors surrounding them for years, as they released a duet called “I Know What You Did Last Summer” in 2015.

In 2018, Shawn even called Camila his “favorite person in the whole world.” The rumors only heated up when the pair dropped their song “Señorita” in June 2019. The next month, they went public with their romance.
Some fans have speculated that their relationship could be a publicity stunt, which Shawn denied to TMZ in September 2019. In October, Camila shared that she and Shawn were “happy” together, saying, “I really, really love him a lot.”
