Taylor Swift continues to fight for her right to own her music as she took the stage at the 2019 American Music Awards. The singer was named Artist of the Decade at the awards ceremony held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on November 11, and Taylor started her performance by singing “The Man” while wearing a white shirt printed with the names of all her albums.
As she sang the song which included the lyrics “Cause if I was a man, then I’d be a man/ They’d say I hustled, put in the work/ They wouldn’t shake their heads and question how much I deserve,” it was clear to fans that she was calling out record executive Scooter Braun and her former manager, Scott Borchetta
Over the recent weeks, it was revealed that apart from the duo securing all rights to Taylor’s music, they also tried to prevent her from performing a medley of her songs from her previous albums. However, days before the AMAs, it was reported that Taylor was cleared to perform her songs, which delighted Swifties all over the world

Later in her speech, Taylor said that performing with her friends was “a dream come true” and that the performance was “even more fun that I hoped it would be.
Taylor Says That It’s The Memories That Matter
Taylor was happy and composed as she thanked her fans and family for their love and support, and she also spoke about her journey which led to her special AMA moment.
“This is an award that celebrates a decade of hard work and of art and fun, and memories,” she said. “All that matters to me is the memories that I’ve had with you guys over the years. Thank you, I’m just so lucky that I get to do this.”
All in all, it was a good night for Taylor as she became the most awarded artist in the history of the AMAs. We can’t wait to see what she comes up with next as she continues to dominate the music world!
