Since America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League was revealed, fans have been wondering why Sofia Vergara isn’t a judge. The spin-off series kicked off without the presence of the Modern Family Star on January 1, 2024. Her seat is being filled by former AGT judge and Spice Girl Mel B.

Sofia Vergara is Not a Judge on AGT: Fantasy League

Sofia Vergara has decided not to be a judge on America’s Got Talent Fantasy League. Amid her departure from the panel, the Colombian beauty failed to explain the reason behind her departure. Apparently, Vergara had other plans laid out for herself in 2024, and that doesn’t include being a judge on AGT: Fantasy League.

Back in September 2023, Cowell explained that the team considered Vergara as a judge for Fantasy League. However, the actress had to skip the series, because she “couldn’t do it.” As per the music mogul, the next choice to serve as fourth judge is Mel B as she’s “a lot of fun” and “really smart.”

While Vergara didn’t particularly name the affair she’s busy with, it’s worth noting that she is starring new Netflix mini-series Griselda. Within the series, she portrays the character Griselda Blanco.

Be that as it may, it seems Vergara doesn’t hold any bitter feelings about being replaced. She expressed support for Mel B back when host Terry Crews revealed the spin-off show during the latest season of AGT.

“I had other things to do,” she said. “But I’m going to leave you in good hands, I’ve found the perfect replacement.”

America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League allows judges to create a roster of talents from previous seasons of America’s Got Talent and Got Talent franchises around the world. The judging panel, consisting of Cowell, Mel, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel, will choose from a pool of 60 previous performers that will be narrowed down to 40 before the premiere.

She Has a Lot Going On in Her Personal Life

Apart from her other professional projects, Vergara is also dealing with a lot regarding her personal life. For those who may not know, 2023 had been sort of a rough year for the AGT judge.

After seven years of marriage, Vergara and her former husband Joe Manganiello separated. According to an unknown source, the two “have been growing apart for a while now and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future.”

“We have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the couple told in a statement in July. “As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”

Furthermore, the Modern Family star is being accused of not paying the contractors who renovated her Los Angeles mansion. Vergara allegedly owes them more than $1.7 million. The filing accuses the AGT judge of breach of contract, promissory fraud and intentional interference with contractual relations, among other claims.

“It’s been very interesting, you know. It’s been an interesting year for me,” she said. “A lot of changes, a lot of good and craziness, and bad things happen and good things happen. You know, what makes life so entertaining and interesting.”
